2008 - 2009 Class III Champions!!!!!!

Congratulations
to the Naugatuck High School Marching Greyhounds, placing 1st in Class 3 Musical Arts Conference Championship competition,
with a superior rating and score of 93.95 on November 8, at Kennedy stadium in Bridgeport, CT.
The greyhounds were also awarded the caption for General Effect, Marching, Music, Percussion and Drum Major. It was yet another very windy, rainy day to end the 2008 Marching Band Season for the Greyhounds,
but their determination and good nature prevailed over the long season of wet weather as they performed their 2008 repertoire
“The Best of Broadway” performing music from The Phantom of the Opera, Rent, and West Side Story.
The Marching Band
has 71 members, including 8 members of the guard. They began rehearsal in June
for the upcoming fall season, including weekly summer rehearsals and a ten day band camp of made up of twelve hour days. They continue a rigorous academic schedule of class five days a week during school,
and 10 hours of additional rehearsal weekly. They performed at 10 competitions
this fall season, with a first placement at each.
The band is under the direction of Mr. Robert Kogut and led this year by drum majors Tina Tasimi, Billy
Gullotta, Danielle Caschetto, and Manny Arbuleda. The greyhounds have an incredible
staff that is to be congratulated on their hard work and dedication to this group of students, many of which volunteer their
time to help make Naugatuck proud.
The Band season continues
as they now begin their winter season of Winter Percussion Ensemble and Winter Guard and will perform beginning in January
through April. The band will also be traveling to Florida this April to perform
in Disney!
